REVEALED: NFF Contract Details With Former Super Eagles Boss, Stephen Keshi.

The former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi was sacked in July 2015, just after signing a new two-year contract (which was to take effect from March 1, 2015) to continue as the coach of Nigeria’s national football team.

The Nigerian Football Federation stated that his sack was as a result of him breaching a clause in his contract. The football house claimed that Keshi applied to become the coach of the Ivory Coast national team not too long after he was given a new contract. This by NFF standards was a contract breach and the door was therefore shown to the nations cup winning coach.

Keshi has since been replaced by another former captain of the Eagles, Sunday Oliseh but we may not have heard the last of Keshi, his contract and his feud with the football federation. An online platform, Naij.com has now released a document which is allegedly Keshi’s initial contract with the NFF. The document suggests Keshi was mandated to reach the semi-finals of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and also the semi-finals of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The document also suggested that Keshi was not allowed to engage in any other service or business whatsoever during the term of his employment. This was the clause which triggered his sack. The clause also stated that the Super Eagles coach was also not allowed to bag endorsement deals from brands which compete with any of the sponsors of the NFF, their products and services. He was also obliged to seek the consent of the federation before accepting any such endorsement deal.

The document revealed that Keshi was to earn N5million monthly as salary and N3million yearly for accomodation.
